As a neurodiverse adult with a neurodiverse child, I bring an embodied, lived experience to the work that I do. I often work with parents to help build systems of safety for themselves and their kids. The nervous system and neurodivergence are so deeply interconnected.
Working with Parents, Teachers and Kids
My embodiment work helps both parents and kids map their own systems better, build a shared language, and better understand their own capacities. The work is not so much about increasing our ability to do more. It is about noticing how our capacity naturally changes, knowing when we are getting close to "too much", recognizing and valuing the way we refill our energy and capacity, and developing more sustainable systems that help support us in doing all of this important work.
Why Somatic work helps?
SOMATIC WORK helps kids and adults alike grow and maintain bodily wisdom. Our brains are powerful and often want to help us think our way out of difficult situations.
Have you ever had a moment where you've thought "it doesn't make sense that I feel this way.."?
Our bodies hold information about us that we cannot always explain with logic. The good news is, we often don't have to.
Somatics works by processing through the body - movement, feeling, connecting. When we allow our bodies to express their knowing, we are better able to get to the root of the stress and help release it.
With Neurodivergence, it is particularly common to be less or HYPER aware of our internal experiences, and for our systems to become more easily overwhelmed.
